Happy Wednesday, Tritons! As you start the Winter quarter and busy yourself with schoolwork, we encourage you to be present and appreciate the people and life around you. Below, you'll find tips and activities to help you de-stress and center yourself, regardless of where you are studying from.

Geisel Library and WongAvery Library are open. The newly renovated main entrance of Geisel Library is now ready for you to use! Library services will be located in the new Service Hub.

Take your study breaks seriously. 

Join us in Classroom 1 on Geisel Library's main floor to relax with therapy dogs!

This event is in partnership with Love on a Leash.

Registration not required, so drop in any time during the event.

 

 Masking will be required at these events for the safety of the dogs and volunteers.

 

Winter Quarter: Wednesday, February 8, 2023, 2:30pm - 4:00pm

Spring Quarter: Wednesday, May 3, 2023, 2:30pm - 4:00pm

PIZZA MELTS
Need new lunch recipes? Try this easy pizza melt recipe!

Ingredients:

1 tbsp room temperature butter
1 tbsp grated Parmesan
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
2 slices of bread
1/3 cup of shredded mozzarella
1 tbsp of pizza sauce
6 slices of pepperoni
 
Directions:
1. Stir together the butter, Parmesan, and Italian seasoning. Spread the mixture over one side of each slice of bread.
2. Place half of the shredded mozzarella on the unbuttered side of the bread. Add dollops of the sauce over the cheese. Then add sliced pepperoni and the remaining cheese. Place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side facing up.
3. Place the sandwich in a skillet and cook over medium-low heat until golden brown on each side and the cheese is melted.

BLACKTRONIKA: AFROFUTURISM IN ELECTRONIC MUSIC

This exhibit celebrates and shines a light on the UC San Diego course Blacktronika: Afrofuturism in Electronic Music, which was created by music professor and music industry practitioner, King James Britt. Throughout Winter Quarter 2023, view an assortment of Professor Britt’s exciting course materials, a selection of vintage and current electronica instruments-of-interest, and ephemera associated with Britt’s career and his current research.

Blacktronika: Afrofuturism in Electronic Music is a new UC San Diego lecture course, created by Professor King James Britt, researching and honoring the people of color who have pioneered groundbreaking genres within the electronic music landscape. Genres span from Chicago House, Detroit Techno and Drum & Bass music. Using his position in the industry, the class has been attended by many, including Questlove, Julian Priester and Flying Lotus.

 

When: January 13, 2023 - March 25, 2023

Where: The Nest at Geisel Library, 2nd Floor
